We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineering Technologist for a special purpose machine manufacturer. This position will report to the Engineering Manager. Job Summary
The main role will be to help with all daily engineering office activities. The big part of the job will be generating/reviewing engineering drawings, completing 3-D models of the product, resolving engineering tickets, maintain products manual and data sheets. Strong practical understanding of GD&T and weld symbols is required.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing the Manufacturing Engineering (Process), Production and Setup/SMED functions through process, manufacturing and setup leaders and supervisors.
- Review current and new engineering drawings for completeness and adherence to established standards.
- Review and updates 3-d models product
- Review/Resolves Engineering tickets
- Contributes to the enhancement of department drawing standards, design standards and procedures
- Responsible for product manuals
- Responsible for service kits, bill of materials, technical bulletins
- Work closely with Designers to produce working drawings, detail drawings and Bill of materials for product and subassemblies.
- Assists production staff with day-to-day issues and documentation discrepancies.
- Provides support with selection and sourcing required mechanical components to purchasing as required
- Assist and be part of engineering office processes (revisions, engineering changes, information packages for outsourcing)
- Involved with prototype building, testing and evaluation
- Support/maintain engineering information including internal engineering standards
- Adhere to all safety rules and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Education
- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ year relevant experience
- Background in machine tool design preferred
- Working knowledge of ISO principals is an asset
- Practical knowledge of MIG welding process preferred
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Must be a team player with positive attitude, able to work in high paced environment with tight deadlines
- Knowledge of AUTOCAD and SolidWorks
- Self-motivated, well organized with good prioritizing skills
