Description
The position is with a tier 2 automotive parts supplier located in SW Ontario. They have an immediate requirement for a Production Supervisor. The Maintenance Supervisor will report to the Production Manager. You will have supervisory responsibility for all plant production employees on a designated shift including set-up operators, press operators and all other plant employees working on their shift. Major Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring that the production schedule is met in an efficient and effective manner to maximize plant efficiency and meet customer requirements.
- Maintain control of department labour cost including overtime, and maximize labour utilization.
- Promote and lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen and 5S initiatives by utilizing Company Production System tools.
- Ensure set-up and cycle times are met.
- Responsible for decision-making and problem-solving on any technical or scheduling issues and coordinating with other shifts to ensure good communication.
- Responsible for supervision of all hourly plant employees on that shift, including employee coaching, discipline and scheduling of work.
- Responsible for ensuring all employees receive the necessary training required to effectively perform their duties.
- Responsible for ensuring quality standards are met according the quality management system and TS16949 requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, including providing instruction on safe operations, necessary personal protective equipment and good housekeeping.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all production paperwork.
- Responsible for overseeing any stock movements and shipping duties to maintain accurate inventory levels.
- All other related duties as assigned by the Production Manager.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role in a unionized work environment in automotive industry
- Post-secondary education with emphasis on manufacturing/ production/ technical/ leadership
- Excellent time management skills, organization skills and the ability to adjust priorities on the go as required
- Excellent trouble shooting and problem resolutions skills, both Technical and Interpersonal
- Strong work ethic, good attitude and desire to succeed and continue to learn and develop your skills
- Understanding of TS16949 & ISO14001 requirement and work procedure
- The ability to use the computer system as an effective tool for tracking orders and maintaining accurate inventory and production records and basic Excel.
