The position is with a tier 2 automotive parts supplier located in SW Ontario. They have an immediate requirement for a Materials Manager This role will report to the Plant Manager. The Material Scheduler, Materials Supervisor and a Customer Service Reps will report directly to this role. This is a progressive organization that empowers their employees and promotes from within. Responsibilities

  • Manage under operating priorities of plant HS&E, Customer Satisfaction, Productivity and Profitability.
  • Manage the materials function including scheduling of production and maintenance of optimum raw materials and finished goods inventory levels.
  • Management of warehousing, shipping and receiving activities.
  • Analysis and interpretation of customer releases.
  • Liaison with customers and suppliers.
  • Optimization of freight costs.
  • Responsible for maintenance and development of MRP system.
  • Responsible for department operating budget.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Five or more years progressive experience in Materials Management related functions with demonstrable knowledge and skills of MRP including computerized materials scheduling and inventory control, production scheduling, purchasing, traffic and warehouse functions including shipping and receiving in a JIT automotive environment.
  • Excellent supervisory, leadership, coaching and interpersonal skills. The ability to lead people to achieve results
  • High comfort level in using an MIS as an information tool, and specifically familiar with the scheduling, production control, estimating and inventory aspects of CMS AS 400 system.
  • Proficient user of MS Office specifically, email WORD and Excel
  • APICS Designation would be desired
  • Bachelor’s degree / college diploma in materials management or business administration, or equivalent combination of education and related business experience in a manufacturing environment.
