We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Manager for a Tier In automotive parts manufacturer. This position will report to the Plant Manager. The primary function of this position is to cost effectively supervise the materials function to ensure that the customer quality requirements are met.

General Responsibilities

  • Responsible for managing the Manufacturing Engineering (Process), Production and Setup/SMED functions through process, manufacturing and setup leaders and supervisors.
  • Primary focus for Manufacturing Engineering (Process) is to maximize Throughput. Including manufacture & continuous improvement of RFT parts through Process innovation, including control of process variances and evaluation of new materials and methods, to ensure quality product is produced to customer specifications.
  • Primary focus for Production is to manage all manufacturing supervisors, and provide leadership, guidance and support in all areas concerning production, setup/SMED activities, scheduling, quality issues and employee relations.
  • Primary focus for Setup / SMED is the deployment of Lean Manufacturing techniques and principles, including Single Minute Exchange of Die to continuously improve changeover times.
  • Promote the Production System and Team Engagement by providing leadership to the manufacturing engineering, production and setup groups by developing optimized and standardized work methods for all processes.
  • Working closely with all departments, provide leadership within the APQP process to meet and exceed assumptions.
  • Active participation in the plant safety committee and responsible for ensuring all safety concerns related to manufacturing and 5S are addressed.
  • Ensure operating policies and procedures are observed and communicated to all personnel.
  • Member of Management Team responsible for planning, budgeting and implementing TQM.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Supervisory/Management experience with strong leadership skills
  • Thorough understanding of moulding process systems, SPC, Continuous Improvement, APQP, and the Production System.
  • Understanding of TS 16949 requirements and work procedures
  • Ability to troubleshoot all process and production equipment failures logically and expediently.
  • Knowledge of Corporate HS&E policies and practices and legislative requirements.
  • Experience in starting new programs including AQP, VAVE and Quality requirements.

Educational Qualifications

  • Post-secondary technical degree/diploma, preferably mechanical, industrial or process engineering or related field preferred, and 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
